Information for the 2015 MS150 Houston-to-Austin Ride

Registration with Team Shell for the 2015 MS 150 ride

Here are the three steps that need to be completed:

1.      1. Registering with the National MS Society (NMSS)

Registration with the NMSS for the 2015 Houston-to-Austin MS150 opened October 14.  If you want to be on Team Shell but are not planning on riding in the 2015 MS 150, skip to Step 2 and complete the team questionnaire.

The registration fee will be due to the NMSS at the time of registration and is $100 per rider until Jan. 31, 2015, then it increases to $130 starting Feb. 1.  The minimum fundraising pledge remains at $400 per rider and will be due to the NMSS at the packet pick-up.  Click Here to register with the NMSS for the 2015 MS150..

2.      2. Registering with Team Shell – All riders must complete this section.

To be an official member of Team Shell you must complete this annual registration survey.

All riders must complete the form, even if you are not planning on riding in the MS150 event and are just planning on participating in the Ready2Roll Training series. If you are register more than one family member, each member will need to have a team registration completed.   We must have a completed waiver on all who participate.

For our 2014/15 cycling season, Team Shell will be transitioning the club back into an internal Shell organization.   This should be in place by January and will give additional team stability going forward.  Team registration fees, for those riding in the MS150 will be announced and collected in January.  Until then, please complete the online team registration survey.

3.      3. Team Registration Fees

For our 2014/15 cycling season, Team Shell will be transitioning the club back into an internal Shell organization.   This should be in place by January and will give additional team stability going forward.  Team registration fees, for those riding in the MS150 will be announced and collected in January.  Until then, please complete the above online team registration survey.

If you can no longer participate in the 2015 MS150 ride

If you are registered but cannot ride (e.g. travel, injury, etc.), you will need to notify both Team Shell at Team Shell Captain and the NMSS at ms150info@ms150.org (Tel: 713-526-8967) prior to the ride or you will be responsible for making the minimum $400 pledge. Note that if you withdraw, you are still welcome to stay on the distribution list, attend training rides, be a team volunteer, etc.

The official NMSS policy is that they allow withdrawals but not transfers.  Team Shell's policy is in line with the NMSS - transfers create logistics and safety challenges as your bib number is tied to the information you registered with.  For example, if your number were involved in an accident on the ride but someone else was wearing it, the emergency contact information would not be correct.

  • Riders under the age of 18 must have a Waiver Form signed by a parent or guardian and NOTARIZED before attending a Packet Pick-Up. Notary services are not available at any Packet Pick-Up. The parent/guardian of a minor rider must pick up the minor’s packet along with their own so the parent-minor numbers can be linked in the NMSS system.

  • No packets will be distributed on either day of the event.

  • You may turn in check and/or cash donations at any packet pickup (use the attached Pledge Form).

  •  If you withdraw from the 2011 MS 150 after picking up your packet, you MUST return the packet to the MS Society or you will be held responsible for meeting the minimum $400 fundraising pledge.

  • REGISTRATIONS ARE NON-REFUNDABLE AND NON-TRANSFERABLE. YOU MAY NOT RIDE IN SOMEONE ELSE’S PLACE.

Site Focal Points for locations away from downtown Houston area are encouraged to coordinate packet pick-up for their sites.  This requires you to collect signed waivers from your local riders, pick up the packets at OSP or one of the public distribution sites, then organize their distribution at your site.

Bike Safety Inspections

Free bike inspections are available from February 15th through April 4th at Official BP MS 150 Bike Stores. After that the cost will be $15. This is a great way to get your bike checked out before hand to assure it is "fit" and safe to do the MS 150. Upon passing your bike will get a sticker that lets you have free labor for bike repair and adjustment during the MS 150 Ride (there will be a charge for parts).

Once your bike passes the safety inspection you and your bike will be awarded a BP MS 150 Safety Inspection Sticker that you’ll proudly display on the stem of your bike to show your safety focused and eligible for FREE labor (parts and materials are extra) if you are in need of mechanical repairs during the BP MS 150.  Please view the 2014 Bicycle Safety Inspection Form if you would like to learn what your safety inspection will include.
